This coming Saturday brings the 2017 period to a close as we embark into 2018 and our final visitors this year at Abbey Fields are Silsden AFC. Silsden have got off to a flying start this season ironically starting in the first game of the season with a 1-0 victory over Sandbach back in August. That game was a close one albeit a pretty ugly game which in reality nobody deserved to win the deciding factor a dubious penalty but one which was none the less converted to take 3 points. Silsden since then have gone from strength to Strength having only recently hit a rocky patch but in the previous 21 games have notched up an inspiring 19 wins and 2 losses.
Of course we are more than capable of beating Silsden on our day and they will be well aware of the fact that we could put a dent in their automatic promotion prospects as we seek to turn around what has been a poor Christmas period for ourselves having lost two on the bounce which we we arguably the better side but could not convert shots to goals.
Silsden will no doubtedly be bringing with them a potent strike force having scored more goals than any other team this season, but they face a stern defence in Sandbach which for some reason has under performed of late but is very capable. They will be worried about the fast counter pace Sandbach offer with no real injury concerns and plenty of options for Andy Hockenhull to choose from. Jordan Davies, Steve Jones, Josh Lane, will trouble Silsden and James Kirby on his day can threaten any defence.
This is unlikely to be the dull scrappy game played out in August, i'll be surprised if this is not one of the games of the season. So don't miss out come and back the boys as we strive to dent Silsdens aspirations and get ourselves back on track and towards the top 6 places.
